The 44th Annual Bar Dinner of The Bar Association of Guyana will be held tomorrow evening, November 9th, 2024, at the Guyana Marriott Hotel, Georgetown commencing at 7:00pm.
The Bar Dinner is the annual social marquee event of the association and attracts wide attendance from members of the Bar, Bench and civil society.
The association has the tradition of inviting esteemed speakers to deliver the Keynote Address at its dinner. More recent prior Keynote Speakers include The Right Honourable Sir Dennis Byron, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (as he then was) in 2017 and the Honourable Mr. Justice Adrian Saunders, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice in 2022.
This year the tradition of esteemed Keynote Speakers continues with the delivery of the Keynote Address by the Honourable Justice Chantal Ononaiwu. Her Honour is the most recent appointee to the Caribbean Court of Justice having taken the oath of office only last week, on October 29th, 2024.
The 44th Annual Bar Dinner is therefore the first such engagement of Her Honour since her ascension to the Bench, and the association is most pleased to have been bestowed with such a privilege.
Her Honour is a highly regarded expert in international law and will deliver the Keynote Address at the Bar Dinner tomorrow evening on ‘Towards the Mainstreaming of Caribbean Community Law in the Region’s Legal Fraternity’.
Ahead of tomorrow’s event, Her Honour arrived at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport today and was welcomed by Bar Council Member, Mr. Keoma Griffith (pictured below)
